bremenports and Maritime Cluster Norddeutschland e.V. offered an online seminar on best-practices in inland shipping. Four experts from industry and government showed innovative concepts for modal shifts onto the waterway. Representatives from Wienerberger and the Province of Friesland reported on successful modal shifts of building material from road to inland vessels. The focus was on palletised goods and break bulk cargoes, which – unlike bulk or container – require utmost care and attention. All examples have been developed within #IWTS 2.0, the Interreg-funded project on innovative inland shipping.

Further, experts from shipping outlined their scenarios of frameworks for successful inland shipping from a commercial point of view as well as on semi-automated navigation. The latter becomes increasingly important, especially on smaller inland waterways.
